So, not only do the actual paintings themselves sit within a
state of visual alteration due to the viewer's relation to it, the
work also remains
in flux within its conceptual condition.
However, due to the smaller size, the
State of Flux can be seen more as a project space, open to
works in progress or more site specific engagements.
The idea that nature is
in a constant
state of flux and dissolution is central to the
work.

Partially informed by observable patterns found
in both human and natural phenomena such as buildings, maps and weather patterns, the
work emerges from an ephemeral, intuitional
state, resulting
in objects and images that convey a sense
of complexity, serenity and
flux.
The idea behind the
work is to learn to let go
of the idea
of permanence, since the
work has be replenished as the candies are taken and consumed by the audience, so the form is
in a constant
state of flux.
The idea this
work embodied was consciousness as a Heraclitean
flux, constantly
in flow and
in a permanent
state of becoming.
Interpreting «presence» as the materiality, affect and meaning that constitutes a
work of art, the exhibition considers how an artwork's presence is
in a perpetual
state of flux.
The fil rouge that connects all these
works — be it present or alluded to through metaphor — is the body,
in a continuous
state of liquid
flux; ebullient and sweaty, nauseous and curled, feverish and bestial.
The
work can also be seen
in relationship to Johannesburg, where he currently lives, a city
in a constant
state of flux.
