Although I recommend wearing the blazer / coat in a «normal» way because wearing it as a cape is indeed it bit chilly (but it looks so much more «high fashion»!)
A faux fur vest is a great option to wear well into spring because it keeps ya warm without the bulkiness of a coat... what I did here to keep me warm, is simply layer it over my white boyfriend blazer (did I mention how much I love white blazers... pretty much love them more than black ones..

I'm not really a big fan of trench coats and with the weather in the UK i hardly ever get a chance to wear any, it seems to be pretty much a quick transition from a jacket / blazer to winter coats!
What I love most, though, is that pretty much any blazer or jacket you buy for work can do easy double duty on casual wear.
Your camel blazer is such a classic piece, no reason to not wear it as much as possible!
