We said a while ago that we want
fuel economy feedback in all cars because it can change the driving habits of many people who are currently getting much
worse mileage than what their cars can realistically do.
A lot of things have an influence on the
fuel economy of a car: Driving style, weather (
mileage can drop quite a bit during winter), tire pressure (we wrote about that),
badly tuned engine, carrying unnecessary weight in the car, idling, cold engine & catalytic converter, etc..
A high - end hand - me - down car will generally cost more to maintain, repair, insure and possibly even
fuel up (if the model gets
bad mileage or takes premium gasoline).
