My frustration has led me to
write about forgiveness, in an effort to illuminate people's understanding of what forgiveness actually includes.

John's baptism of repentance for the
forgiveness of sins was the Jewish baptism of repentance which I
wrote a few posts
about, and which has nothing to do with receiving eternal life, and everything to do with the repentance of Israel as a nation so that she can be restored to her rightful place among the nations as God promised in Scripture.
Lerone A. Marti, an assistant professor of American religious history at Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis,
wrote that church folks who stick by unrepentant pastors have a lot to learn
about forgiveness and accountability.

He performed countless miracles to help convince non-believers, he carried the message of God's love for us, repentance and
forgiveness and some where a CNN editor thinks there is any value in
writing about the possibility (albeit an unprovable opinion only...) that Jesus was dirty living in the dust bowl of the eastern mediterranean?
Sadly you also throw around the term «child abuse» with a cavalier looseness that suggests you don't have the foggiest idea what child abuse is... it's a shame abused children everywhere can't
write in and tell you
about their trevails at the hands of an abuser... Jesus Christ was no abuser... if I'm wrong
about Jesus, he was at least a Rabbi who loved his followers, and who taught, peace, compassion,
forgiveness, and inclusiveness... If I'm right, Jesus is the most amazing, wonderful gift GOD could ever give to his beloved creation... in either event, belief in him, and sharing those beliefs with children is not abuse, it's loving and nurturing fact based belief, not mythology...
In Acts, Luke uses this title when
writing about work currently going on; the work of the risen, exalted Christ: «God exalted him... as Leader and Savior to give repentance to Israel and
forgiveness of sins» (Acts 5:31); and again: «By raising Jesus» (Acts 13:33) «God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus as he promised» (Acts 13:23), and «through this man
forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone that believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses» (Acts 13:38).
So when Paul
writes about «the
forgiveness of sins,» he is referring to our release from the cycle of sacred violence.
Jesus reminds the disciples that what was
written about him must be fulfilled, and continues: «Thus it is
written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and
forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
So when New Testament authors
write about repentance for the
forgiveness of sins, they have in mind the cancellation of debt or the release of a slave from captivity to sin.
For example, if a child hits a sibling, talk
about using a calm - down plan in the future, and perhaps
writing a note to the Elf to let him / her know that the child realizes a mistake has been made, will correct it in the future, and is asking for
forgiveness.
For example, she
wrote about promising and
forgiveness as exemplary forms of political action.
I «The Pardon,» Richard WIlbur's poem
about self -
forgiveness and death, the tormented narrator
writes, «I dreamt the past was never past redeeming.»
