as unhealthy because it makes a number of wild claims that are completely unsupported through close examination of Traditional Societies
as studied and documented by Dr. Weston A. Price in his
book Nutrition and
Physical Degeneration.
Some do find creative means of stocking their
physical book, such
as working directly with their local bookstore or drumming up support from local
writing groups.
A powerful historically accurate
book that brings alive the life of one woman enduring the emotional and
physical hardships of slavery -
written so well and so lyrically that we feel and see all she does - we are there - it is a visceral experience to read this
book and I could not put it down - a true look at and experience of the human experience
as it endures the unthinkable and yet retains it's humanity.
Overall, APE holds good food for thought on
physical books and ebooks, on
writing, publishing and reading, on
books as artistic expression and
as a saleable commodity.
Incidentally, nothing I just
wrote should be read
as dismissing the possibility of Amazon becoming a monopsonist in the
physical goods market (whether those goods are
books, clothing, or anything else Amazon sells), where the cost barriers to entry are much higher.
A paperback does give some kudos to you
as an author (there is something magical about holding a
book you've
written), and some readers prefer a
physical book, but the income from a paperback is significantly lower than from an e-
book.
As evidence for this, there is no entry for Popper in the index to Duhem's
book, The Aim and Structure of
Physical Theory, which Gavin may have quoted above, and which was
written just before 1906.
