So what you're trying to tell me is that jesus can perform miracles, he
did so for a crapload of people, but since it was also thrown into the bible that he can't perform for evil people (or wicked generation or whatever) and since we're all sinners he can't perform miracles so we just have to trust him, actually not him necessarily, a
book written by a bunch of people 100's of years after jesus who also weren't seeing miracles
done, so they decided that since no
more miracles were happening, it's our fault.
If you want to believe in your god, then
more power to you, but don't make yourself look stupid by trying to refute scientific fact based on what someone told you or what you've read in an outdated
book written to scare and control mankind though fantastical and highly embellished stories meant to inspire fear and obedience to ancient laws and beliefs.

do like the progressive Christian stance as you describe it — that there may be error in many of the
books of the bible — but that people, even with our limited minds, can strive to see a
more perfect vision than what was

Others may feel like the schoolgirl who was assigned to
write a review of a
book on penguins, and
did it in one sentence: «This
book tells me
more about penguins than I really wanted to know.»
Does it not appear that the great
book of the present and, much

doing a lot of reading on church history recently (for that
book I'm
writing... Close Your Church for Good), and it constantly amazes me how much of what we
do «in church» is a result of tradition (so much for Sola Scriptura) which developed 1000 - 1500 years ago as a result of a politician or priest who wanted
more power or

One side effect of the research I've
done in
writing the
book, is that when somebody presents 10K verses to support their claim, I can
write a short reply: «Thank you for providing so much scriptural support that conclusively proves my position, and demonstrates that your position has no basis in scripture», and, if challenged, go through each cited verse, and, using one or
more specific techniques / methods of Bible study, show how the cited verse either refutes the position they present, or supports the position I present.
DO NOT think that claims about magic and the supernatural are

There is a great
book written by 2 NON christians on the emotional roller coaster of «hooking» up Our brain has
more to
do with it than anything.
You are blinded by your faith (belief without evidence) and obviously don't care if what you believe is true or not, you only care that you get to think you're

do your own investigation, determine the Truth for yourself... hopefully, anne rice's denouncement of faith in the God of the Bible (it's difficult for me to believe she ever had Saving Faith in the first place) will bring some readers to investigate and find the Truth... There is a manner of
writing, employed by the best reporters when they go
book - length, which implies that the writer knows at least as much about his subject as God

If you try
writing down what you and your children
do in any one day, including all questions they ask, any time you read to them, cooking, laundry, going for walks etc, you'll probably find many educational opportunities that are not related to text -
books or school «subjects», but are all the
more valuable for that.
