Retiring from the Macquarie Group after a 30 year career that culminated in his position as Executive Chairman, Simon has also been involved with CSIRO, MS Research Australia, Global Poverty Project Australia, VisionFund Australia and World Vision Australia.

Following his work at OSLC, he worked for five years as a Research Professor and Director of Research at Partners for Our Children in the School of Social Work at the University of Washington, where he was engaged in a variety of projects focused on children and families involved in the child welfare system, including the development and testing of the STRIVE program.
