And yet, as I progressed through high school and college, got a job in full - time student ministry, and even
traveled through Europe for a few weeks, checking each
of these dreams off my
list (sans Aussie heartthrob), I found myself at age twenty - four absorbed in feelings that I didn't expect to come for at least another fifteen
years, if ever.

So in the spirit
of one
of the most
travelled holiday weekends
of the
year, I've put together a
list of some
of the most important things I can not
travel without.
It has been a nice change, but I am really hoping that we get our internet set up next week so I am able to get on top
of my work and a
list of things I have been waiting to do - such as email out to people about this and that, research a few
travel spots, commit to a volunteering trip later in the
year to Laos etc... Plus,
of course, who doesn't want to browse random shit?!
We have a super busy couple
of weeks coming up with
travel, getting ready to leave for Atlanta and all
of the kids» end
of year activities, but as soon as that all wraps up I plan on buckling down on my
list.

So this
year we wanted to make that happen for two deserving people and give them a trip
of a lifetime:
traveling the world crossing off the most epic bucket
list items
of all time.
It would take me all day to
list all
of my favourite
travel related books, so I'll just keep it to the books I read last
year, that inspired me to
travel.
Anyways, The Guardian rounded up a few
of their favorite
travel writers (or at least the ones that were around) to help compile a
list of the best

of the
year, a task that seems to beg the question: why didn't the editors just come up with their own
list?
