Young art requires new
spaces.
So it's not just the thirty -, forty - year - old veteran alternative
spaces that we aspire to, but also
younger models, and those not entirely focused on visual
art.
Of those I visited,
Art Miami reprised its welcome survey of Latin American artists; Untitled lit its beach tent with wide, carefully curated booths showing refreshingly unfamiliar material from all over the world; Pulse drew the
young to accomplished work by mid-career artists who remain affordable; and the Design Fair played curated interiors of mid-century masters against the technological marvels of
space - age lighting and the the largest - ever 3D printed work from sustainable materials — SHoP architects» outdoor pavilion digitised out of recycled bamboo whose combined airiness and tensile strength stand to revolutionise building.
As part of the abstract
art takeover at the Whitechapel Gallery, Lodewijks» new commission for London draws from workshops with local
young people, where he found out about their relationships to the
spaces around them.
In the framework of the 1968 - 1971 research program in
art and technology conducted by the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of
Arts), Irwin works with Dr. Edward Wortz, head of the laboratory of a
space program, and invites a
young artist named James Turell to join their research team.
While exhibiting the works of Turkish
art scenes prominent artists, the opportunity was given to the talented
young artists to use the same «open
space».
The boys the girls and the political, this year's summer show at the Lisson Gallery, reinforces the gallery's position as an influential and pioneering contemporary
art space, which advocates new thinking and approaches to
art - making, and shows a commitment to
younger artists.

He had been working all of his life in a style he evolved as a
