The five decades» worth of work in this exhibition will demonstrate the critical prescience of Bayrle's output and the profound influence he has had on younger artists working around the world today.

Having belatedly stumbled upon a notice of a recent exhibition of Professor Remington's work, I was inspired to revisit my former professor's legacy and, in retrospect of over 40 years since my initial contact with her at Cooper in the 1970's — when she was a new painting professor and I was a young, developing painting student — reflected upon her impact as both an artist and a teacher.

The exhibition brings together a broad spectrum of leading artists, prompting thematic conversations across generations, between those who rose to prominence during the closing decades of the last century and younger artists who have found their voice in today's world, a place of incalculably more images, where distinct movements have given way to heterogeneity and the availability of and reliance on technology is taken as given.

The exhibition considers works by famed Nouveau Réalisme artists such as Arman and Raymond Hains alongside the likes of American counterparts Robert Rauschenberg and Richard Artschwager, as well as a younger generation of contemporary artists who came of age in the wake of Pop Art.

This group exhibition features photograph and installation which have not yet exhibited in Japan, as well as new works by two young artists during their stay in Tokyo.

Depending on how early in their careers you are looking to find artists, graduate school exhibitions, fair sections like Frame at Frieze New York, biennials and triennials and of course younger galleries (for example Chapter NY or On Stellar Rays in New York; Gagareena or Jenny's in Los Angeles; and Micky Schubert or Tanya Leighton in Berlin) are all important forums for discovery.

The exhibition opened in 1970, when he was 33, making him the youngest artist ever honoured by MoMA in this way.
