so, in fact, that kids have begun rushing into the weight room in record numbers.
So, how can
youth sports organizations become more accountable to their «customers» (you and your children)?
While
youth sports organizations pale in size to FIFA, most are run like small - and, in some cases, not -
so - small - businesses, with officers, boards of directors, bylaws and annual meetings, and annual budgets running into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
As I write about at length in my book and elsewhere on this website, our
youth sports culture has become
so obsessed with winning that not only has fun taken a back seat, but, more dangerously, safety as well.
Having kids involved in
youth sports can really tax your family schedule along with your wallet,
so this is a tough one.
These are by far the most expensive teams in
youth sports as parents must cover travel expenses, tournament fees, coaches» salaries, and
so on.
So even if you played
sports yourself when you were a child, you can bet there's a lot to learn as your kids get involved in
youth and school
sports.
What an honor to know that the staff at the
youth sports program you volunteer time at appreciates your work
so much that they would nominate you for a national award.
Also included in the General Registration fee for those attendees who have yet to earn their CYSA credential is an opportunity to participate in the special Onsite Academy for

so participants can attend both the Congress and Academy during their time in New Orleans.
There are
so many lessons to be learned from
youth sports and that's the way I think we have to look at it.»
