The mode is almost exactly the same; you use the points you earn slaying
zombies to buy weapons and
ammo,
as well
as open up doors to new rooms, making the overall arena larger and larger over time.
Now onto the Single player mode or the «single player upgrade» if you've purchased the multiplayer edition, this is basically the same
as a private match in multiplayer, you play one of the multiplayer selections against AI on top of that you have survival mode which was rather confusing, my idea of the game was a normal FPS game with
zombies implemented so you can't camp, when you're playing the survival mode the full area has some sort of gas which will kill you if you don't get out of it, you get sent to different air pockets which open up in a set area per round, this meaning you have to camp in the air bubble and take on the hordes of
zombies approaching, I've played a few
zombie fps games in my days and always wanted to move around, create a train and take them out, on top of that
ammo drops or weapon drops are in said bubbles and lack in quality, I wasn't impressed with the survival mode implementation and wouldn't advise any horde fans to even look at it.
As you lay waste to
zombies and other creatures, you can pick up
ammo and other boosts to keep yourself going strong.
Weapons include the rifle (the only gun with infinite
ammo), the machine gun, the shotgun and more imaginative kit such
as the shocker, which sends electricity through a crowd of
zombies, popping their heads like balloons.
Resource management (finding guns,
ammo and food / supplies) have been in many
zombie games, such
as; Resident Evil, Fort
Zombie, Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead.
The State of Decay series hits the right notes with me
as it not only allows you to maim hordes of
zombies, but it also focuses a lot on some of the other sometime overlooked facets of a survival situation, such
as resource management other than just
ammo and first aid sprays.
You'll get some Capture the Flag scenarios and some King of the Hill scenarios, plus some modes similar to Call of Duty: World at War's
zombie killing multiplayer modes insomuch
as you and your buddies bunker down and take out wave after wave of incoming enemies, purchasing weapons and
ammo as needed.
There's nothing quite so gratifying
as facing thirty
zombies when you have a heavy machine gun and no shortage of
ammo.
This is a
zombie shooter based in the baking heat of Arizona state - so a lot of the battles take place outside in the sunshine
as you move around the maps scavenging for
ammo and food to get by.
The
zombies that you kill sometimes drop valuable medi - kits and cash — you can use this cash to purchase upgrades such
as new weapons, extra
ammo and equipment.
Zombieville USA is a «run and gun'type game where you play
as a distinctly american looking man, running through various neighborhoods killing
zombies and checking houses for money and
ammo.
It only takes a few missions until the
ammo levels start increasing, though, and when it does, the
zombie heads can begin popping, just
as they're made to do.
Left 4 Dead changed the
zombie survival - horror game by making combat more about slaughtering droves of undead shamblers rather than conserving
ammo and making tactical strikes,
as well
as by focusing on cooperative multiplayer.
