Cholangitis is a medical term used to describe inflammation in the bile ducts. Bile ducts are small channels that carry bile, a substance produced by the liver, to the gallbladder and intestines. When these channels become infected or blocked, it can cause pain, fever, and sometimes jaundice.
Cholangitis is typically treated with antibiotics and, in severe cases, may require surgical intervention.
