A
margin call is when a stockbroker or lender requests additional money from an investor who has bought stocks with borrowed money. This request is made because the investor's account value has fallen below a certain level set by the lender. The investor must then deposit more funds into the account or sell some of the securities to cover the debt and bring the account value back up to the required level.
