Definition of «wrongful termination»

Wrongful termination refers to a situation where an employee is fired or let go from their job in violation of their legal rights. This can occur if the employee was terminated for reasons that are considered unlawful, such as discrimination based on age, race, gender, religion, disability, or other protected characteristics; retaliation for engaging in a legally protected activity (such as reporting workplace safety concerns); or in violation of an employment contract. In these cases, the employee may have legal recourse to seek compensation and/or reinstatement in their job.
