Actually the Pilgrims (who were not the sole founders of the American colonies), were the real zealots — Puritans seeking to establish a theocratic utopia and / or (depending on the date) fleeing those Crown powers who were forcing allegience to the CoE. (religion.blogs.cnn.com)
They do everything like a Christian, they profess their faith, go to Church, have their followers swear allegience to God on the bible, but since Christians don't want to accept them, they must be muslim or atheist. (religion.blogs.cnn.com)
