I don't think all our efforts to get to greater understanding about what's going on in our planetary climate are all good or all bad, but I do think a lot of decsions are heavily impacted by the public's perception and the image of the bear swimming to oblivion, if that's in fact what happens, carries more weight than scientific objectivity.
