A recent public radio piece on the Wall Street reform bill highlighted the role of skilled Wall Street lobbyists, which Lazio was and to a degree remains (from what I understand he still has the job, he's just not doing it at the moment, and presumably will go back to it if he loses), in shaping the bill to be more to the industry's liking.
