In fact, Cuffey and Vimeux did not solve the lag, they only corrected the temperature derived from deuterium / hydrogen ratio, which gives a more sinusoidal curve for temperature changes (and a better correlation between CO2 and temperature), but it didn't change the timing: CO2 starts to decline, some 1000 years after the temperature reached it's minimum.
