Scottish artist Susan Philipsz won in 2010 with a recorded rendition of traditional Scottish ballads, and now we have Janice Kerbel's song cycle for six classical singers (DOUG pictured below) whose elastic vocal chords are stretched to remarkable effect — to my untuned ears one male singer appears to go from «castrato» to bass in under a minute. Last September's 85 - minute long Trip, an undulating, psychedelic song cycle about grief, may have been heavy going but take solace from the fact that these live shows will offer some lighter relief via tracks from 2014's excellent Souled Out debut and the surprisingly intriguing Twenty88, Aiko's collaborative album with rent - a-rapper Big Sean.
