Practical Pet Protocol is our new series of group classes, designed especially for dogs sixteen weeks and older that are in need
of basic obedience lessons.
We use a unique form of positive reinforcement training, which
combines basic obedience lessons and proper leash handling techniques to mold a focused dog that views you, the owner, as the «leader.»
Dogs in the puppy class (PC) group (n = 44) attended the class for 1 hr each week for 6 weeks, dogs in the puppy party (PP) group (n = 39) attended a 1 - hr «puppy party,» dogs in the adult class (AC) group (n = 27)
undertook basic obedience lessons for adolescent / adult dogs for 1 hr each week for 6 weeks, and dogs in the no class (NC) group (n = 32) underwent no formal training.
Take the unloaded gun out, leash your dog, and then conduct
some basic obedience lessons.
In many of the puppy socialization classes or
the basic obedience lessons, the most common commands that are taught are «Sit», «Stay», and sometimes «Come».
Basic obedience lessons are very important when trying to communicate with dogs because it not only teaches them a few neat tricks, but also requires them to focus on and listen to you.
All basic obedience lessons are also available as private lessons with an initial behavior consultation (if required).
They tend to need
some basic obedience lessons, and some supervision and management in certain situations.
