The observation that HDL cholesterol did not increase in ApoC - III — treated mice would seem to support an LPL - independent mechanism as well, although the absence
of cholesterol ester transfer protein in mice confounds this finding.
The relations between the proportions of 15:0 in

«For example, HDL and LDL themselves are comprised of hundreds of molecular species
of cholesterol esters and triglycerides.
Bile salt - activated lipase, which can hydrolyze both triglycerides and
cholesterol esters, was elevated 32-fold during hibernation and allowed the bears efficiently to harvest energy from stored fat.
The chemical analysis of the atheroma shows that the fatty acids from
the cholesterol esters are 74 % unsaturated (41 % is polyunsaturated) and only 24 % are saturated.
