Manage injected fuel quantity through injector pulse width (time) while maintaining
constant fuel rail pressure and injector flowing characteristic
More difficult checks are
a fuel rail pressure test.
A modern direct injected gasoline engine like the Mazda DISI (direct injected spark ignition) has
a fuel rail pressure of only 1,600 PSI, more then ten times less the the comparable diesel engine.
It is also common that
the fuel rail pressure sensor is faulty and causing a false reading.
Code P12a2 is related to
the fuel rail pressure sensor which reads the fuel pressure in the fuel rail to ensure that the proper amount of fuel is making it to the fuel injectors.
Another area to be checked will be
the fuel rail pressure.
The fuel pump,
fuel rail pressure, fuel injection timing, and injection duration are controlled by the engine control module.
