If you're not sure if the person or people eating your cookies has a tree nut allergy that includes coconut, check with them before making this recipe, or substitute another
fat in place of the coconut oil (we recommend butter if there are no dairy allergies, or vegan EarthBalance if there are).
Since I have My Favorite Grain Free Chocolate Chip Cookies already, I simply used the MELT Organic baking
sticks in place of the coconut oil in the recipe and they turned out delicious and perfect.
I used palm
shortening in place of the coconut oil (we have both dairy and coconut allergies in our family, so coconut oil and butter are both out), and it worked, but the cookies spread a bit more than what's in the picture.
I just pulled these out of the oven and they are delicious!!!! I didn't have high hopes because I used
canola in place of the coconut oil and tapioca starch instead of potato starch but these are easily the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had and I'm not even vegan.
I use Fermented Cod Liver oil
in place of Coconut oil in this recipe since coconut oil can be irritating to some people with eczema.
And can I use extra light olive oil
in place of the coconut oil, which I don't have, or does the coconut oil add some mysterious touch that the olive oil just can't duplicate?
Just today I tried it with melted butter
in place of the coconut oil (I had run out).
I made this and substituted macadamia nut oil
in place of the coconut oil.
(For reference, I used Bob's Red Mill Gluten - free Flour instead of Debbie's flour mixture [only because I had some on hand], and Earth Balance Soy - free Butter in place of sunflower butter, honey instead of coconut nectar, and olive oil
in place of coconut oil.
Hi, I just wondered if I could use carotino red palm fruit & rapseed oil
in place of coconut oil?
I used butter
in place of coconut oil and left out the cinnamon.
Hi Melissa, my recommendation would be to use 1 stick of butter (melted), but you could also use 1/2 cup vegetable oil
in place of the coconut oil.
If you'd prefer to not use coconut oil in the crumb topping portion of the recipe, you can substitute 1/4 cup melted vegan butter
in place of the coconut oil and almond milk.
Any neutral flavored oil will work in the actual dough, but for the filling the only thing you can use
in place of the coconut oil would be vegan butter (or regular butter, if you eat dairy).
You can use any neutral flavored oil
in place of the coconut oil, if desired.
I'd say use vegetable oil
in place of the coconut oil and add in an additional 1 tablespoon chia seeds:)
