Evidence supporting the use
of Low FODMAP diets is growing and shows improvements in all symptoms of irritable bowel diseases.
People get super confused
with low FODMAP diets because there seems to be conflicting info on which foods contain FODMAP starches.
I will say that one of the biggest mistakes I see is people
doing low FODMAP diets or super restrictive diets for 6 months to a year or more.

Low FODmap diet guide iPad app is really wonderful, it has a suggested eating plan with single serve recipes to identify the foods causing trouble, and very useful customisable guides shopping lists, diary etc Well worth the $ 10 or $ 15 I paid for it!
After the initial
low FODMAP diet trial, I will call the patient's gastroenterologist to discuss the possibility of other testing or perhaps try alternative dietary modifications (modify fat intake, trial of low histamine or gluten free, adjust fiber intake) in an effort to manage any persistent symptoms.
If it hasn't completely alleviated your symptoms, then you might consider trying a grain - free or
low FODMAPs diet instead.
Eighty - four percent of patients lived on a
modified low FODMAP diet (LFD), where some foods rich in FODMAPs were reintroduced, and 16 % followed the LFD by the book without deviations.
I would encourage you to pull back on the running and work on less intense workouts — walking, yoga and work with a dietitian to help provide a
balanced low FODMAP diet to help potentially manage symptoms while working on healing your intestine.
In a recent randomized study, 30 patients with IBS received a typical diet or
low FODMAP diet for three weeks then the opposite diet for three weeks.
Might avoid initially while
on low FODMAP diet — and then introduce to assess better if it causes any symptoms.
