It's a traditional dessert in Ireland, made
with shredded apples cradled in a buttery crust and topped with airy meringue.
This seems very close but our cake had apple pieces throughout — so do you think I could use half a cup of oil and 3 cups
of shredded apple would be an even substitute for the 4 cups of applesauce?
Grate or
shred the apples into the bowl - I use a hand - held grater, but a food processor works fine too.
