I have tried for the past 5 months to potty train my daughter by
taking her to potty with me, and having her sit on the potty throughout the day.
I've known toddlers
who took to potty training within days of putting on underwear for the first time and other toddlers who weren't fully trained when leaving my care a year later.
Because some
kittens take to potty training quickly (or even before coming home with you) after watching their mother use a litter box, this type of training time may be brief.
For a puppy 8 to 9 weeks old, you will need to set an alarm to
take them to potty twice during the night, at 2.5 hour intervals.
For a puppy 9 to 12 weeks old, set an alarm to
take them to potty half way through the night, 3.5 to 4 hours after bed time.
Dogs and puppies generally like to be where the action is, so if you see him trying to wander off,
take him to his potty area right away.
Whenever your child shows signs of needing to urinate or have a bowel movement, ask him if he wants to use the potty or
take him to the potty chair and explain to him what you want him to do.
One will say he wants to poop, and sit on the toilet (none of them
ever took to a potty), but the other two refuse to poop in the toilet, though they will pee in it, and love to flush.
We used diapers all day and night as usual, and starting at 6 months,
took him to the potty after meals and several times during the day to let him «try».

This technique involves firmly telling your child what he has done,
taking him to the potty where he can clean and change himself (although you will likely need to help) and then having him practice using the potty.
We're going to start doing the sound associations and
taking him to the potty on the weekends to jumpstart his potty training process.
As your puppy becomes reliable about using his potty pads, you'll gradually increase his area of confinement until he's loose in the house and reliable
about taking himself to his potty pads when he needs to go.
However, as soon as Rascal steps outside of his crate that instinct fades away, so you need to

And before you put him back in his crate,
take him to his potty place again and then throw a small treat in the enclosure to entice him to re-enter.
