"Web accessibility" refers to designing and building websites in a way that ensures people with disabilities can access and use them easily. It involves making websites inclusive, so everyone, regardless of their abilities, can navigate, understand, and interact with online content effectively.

As many colleagues involved in serving Canadian government's online projects along the years, I too did my fair part of fence - sitting about
web accessibility requirements.
Web accessibility refers to the practice of making websites and web resources in general accessible (easy to use and interact with) for people with disabilities.
Topics include infrastructure, new roles of the instructor and learner,
universal web accessibility, indigenous peoples and technology, and more.
Most importantly, make someone responsible
for web accessibility, just as someone is responsible for digital security, privacy, and ethics.
More recently, taking effect on August 1st 2011, the Treasury Board set in its Standard
on Web Accessibility which includes new accessibility requirements: each web page must meet all WCAG 2.0 conformance requirements up to the AA Level.
To further underscore the timeliness of undertaking this evaluation, activity at the Department of Justice, the federal agency responsible for enforcing the Act, demonstrates that it is likely only a matter of time before a clear mandate
of web accessibility under the ADA is issued.

What is amusing though is that the imposition of the Standard on
web accessibility does not limit its effects to the techies programming web sites.
