added dark choc chunks in mixture and also, since seeing on TV cookery programme effect of overbeating flour (gluten) in mixture making cakes heavy, I SIFTED flour with cocoa in mix and this did make muffins lighter.
Substituted the choc chips for a Green & Black's organic 70 % cocoa

I used soy milk instead of almond, used double the amount of baking powder because I did not have any baking soda, used 1 egg as I found the mixture to be extremely crumbly, and
used dark choc chips which sadly did contain dairy (it's all I had in my pantry, a day before pay day) BUT these were still some kick ass cookies.
Variation - replace the dark and white chocolate chips with 50g
dark choc chips, 50g sultanas, and 50g chopped dried apricots, for an even fruitier oaty bar.
I didn't use semi-sweet choc for top layer but 65 %
dark choc (listed sugar as 2nd ingredient)- figured that will do instead.
As a variation I have also replaced the blueberries with raspberries and then added
some dark choc — which is really good too!
