Instead, I have tended to recommend a «chia egg» slurry, which is just 1 tablespoon
of ground chia seeds + 1 tablespoon of lukewarm water, mixed and allowed to gel.
I would try the following: Instead of 4 tbsp flax meal, add 2 tbsp almond flour, 2
tbsp ground chia seeds + 1 tsp psyllium husk powder.
So, please tell me which it is — 1/3
cup ground chia seed powder, or 1/3 cup chia seed, ground to a powder.
For me personally, I don't do well with these starches, I use
ground chia as a great form of fiber for improving bowel movements and grabbing up toxins.
The recipe is pretty simple to assemble — just
combine ground chia seeds, coconut milk, coconut butter, cacao powder and sweeteners.
Note: I did
n't grind the chia seeds for the scones when I snapped this picture, but many prefer the recipe when the chia seeds are ground.
* To
make ground chia seed, in a high - speed blender, grind 1/2 cup chia seeds on high until a fine powder forms.
I think it would work with 3/4 cup milk, 1 1/2
teaspoons ground chia seeds, 1 large ripe mashed banana, 2 tablespoons peanut butter, 3/4 cup oats, a pinch of salt and 1 tablespoon of honey or pure maple syrup.
I
substituted ground chia for the flax, coconut oil for the vegetable oil, and GF all purpose flour for the other flours... All to avoid running to the store, only to discover I was out of baking soda.
I also used two of my favorite fiber - rich sources of healthy fats: flax meal and
ground chia which are high in omega - 3 fats that beautify the skin and nourish the heart.
I wonder
if ground chia seeds would work as a gelatine replacement too.
1/3 cup chia or flax meal (it's best to
freshly grind chia / flax seeds into a meal, so if you have whole seeds and a grinder, that will work)
And, my unasked for two cents... I've
found ground chia to work much better than flax and just as well as the gums.
Made
from ground chia seeds, our chia flour will give your diet a boost of fiber and omega - 3 fatty acids.
* You can use
black ground chia as well but it will have a stronger chia - like taste.
To substitute for an egg: Use 1 tablespoon
finely ground chia seeds (grind them dry in a blender, food processor, or coffee grinder) and 3 tablespoons of water per egg in a baked recipe (does not work in place of eggs for omelets though...)
You can use more coconut flour (1 - 2 tbsp) or mix in some almond flour (1/4 cup) or
even ground chia seeds (1/4 cup).
Organic sweet potato puree, organic banana puree (organic bananas, citric acid), water, organic nonfat greek yogurt (organic pasteurized nonfat milk, cultures [heat treated after culturing]-RRB-, organic passionfruit puree, organic whole oat flour,

If you
prefer ground chia seeds in your pudding but don't have any, just add all the pudding ingredients to a blender instead of stirring them together.
I substituted 1/2
c ground chia seed for 1/2 c of the ground flaxseed.
I have not tried making these oatmeal breakfast cookies egg - free, but my educated guess is that 2 «chia eggs» (each chia egg is made by mixing 1 tablespoon
ground chia flour with 1 tablespoon lukewarm water and allowing it to sit until it gels) might work.
It's possible that gluten free oat flour would work as a substitute for spelt flour, plus a tablespoon
ground chia sees to h ererlp with sticking together... not being crumbly.
