The finding that NOx emission rates will
increase with warming temperatures also highlights the urgency of taking steps to better manage nitrogen fertilizer use in a warming world, he says.
In the absence of mortality threat, growth rates of
damselflies increased with warming until about 23.5 °C and then began to decline, a typical unimodal response to changes in temperature.
Challenge increases with warming
Risks of irreversible changes increase with warming
For the most part, wet regions will get wetter and dry regions will get drier as the amount of water the atmosphere can
carry increases with warming.
Moreover, even with enhanced phosphorus removal in wastewater treatment plants, algal growth may
increase with warming over the long term (Wade et al., 2002).
According to Isaac Held, climate models predict that the relative humidity over oceans will have to rise about 1 % (a 5 % increase in 1 — RH) to suppress surface evaporation which would otherwise rise at 7 % / degC and create a surface energy imbalance (because
DLR increases with warming nearly as fast as OLR).
In JULES, on the other hand, residence time declines with warming when CO2 also increases, yet
increases with warming when CO2 is fixed.
Furthermore, double - cropping can become an alternative to current practices in areas with very long growing seasons which are also shown to
increase with a warming climate.
The results suggest that soil respiration and organic carbon decomposition in the tundra, especially in grassy areas, will
increase with warming temperatures and rising soil moisture, resulting in increased carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere.
Although plant activity can
increase with warmer temperatures and higher carbon dioxideconcentrations, the change in carbon dioxide amplitude over the last 50 years is larger than expected from these effects.
Known to
increase with warmer temperatures, it could cut the carbon sequestration from tree - planting projects to zero as soils belch out more CO2 than what is stored in tree trunks and the like.
Ticks, mosquitos, fleas, and intestinal parasites all become more active in warmer weather (fleas and intestinal parasites can affect dogs all year, but there is
an increase with warm weather).
There is also evidence that lightning — the usual initial spark — may
increase with warming.
The implication that the upper troposphere loses energy only by one means (radiation) but receives energy by two means (radiation & convection) that would seem to
increase with warming.
However, combined occurrences of the very strongest wind shears and updraft speeds will
increase with warming, suggesting more of the most significant severe thunderstorms.
The strength of many amplifying feedbacks is likely to
increase with warming, which could increase the risk of the climate changing state (Box 3).
I know of none, except that evaporation at the surface should
increase with warming — and in fact is observed to do so.
