Redeeming Delta miles for Virgin
Australia business class awards used to be a great deal, but Delta has raised the level from 80,000 to 100,000 miles for travel after October 1, 2016.
While their primary hub is in Madrid, Iberia is fairly good about
releasing business class award space between Miami and Barcelona, especially in light of the fact that they're not otherwise all that great about releasing award space.
There's mid-level award availability in coach, and, from what I see, mid-level business class on the outbound and, incredibly, low -
level business class award seats on the return (so 125,000 round trip).
And if you're redeeming for a Cathay
Pacific Business Class award between the U.S. and Japan, South Korea or Mongolia, then it makes more sense to use American AAdvantage miles, since it would be 100,000 AA miles for those destinations (classified as «Asia 1» in the AAdvantage Partner Award Chart).
