great challenge modes and you've got yourself a game that will please even the most timid arcade gamer.
That's right — one annoying thing about this game is that the match types are all locked unless you play them in
challenge mode until you are able to unlock them.
In their place is an 85 - level
challenge mode filled with new puzzles, and evolving gameplay complemented by a set of 10 achievements.
Finally, there's a
fun challenge mode which allows you to simultaneously take on one to three bosses of your choosing.
I speak of the brand new
Season Challenge mode, a series of ten races with 5 - laps each and single lap qualifying sessions determining the order of the grid.
The story mode has a calming effect, but if you're looking for excitement,
challenge mode tests your limits.
This can be the
most challenging mode, but also a great way to improve your skills and victory here is so satisfying.
Without a gripping story or interesting protagonist, it settles on being a fun but
short challenge mode.
You can
enter Challenge mode to try and beat the campaign's stages in as few shifts and jumps as possible but without online rankings, this mode feels like a waste of time.
Currently there are 8 legendary rally cars, 8 tracks (including forward / reverse direction) and 65
Challenge mode events in the game, with more to come!
On the other hand,
Challenge mode functions like an endless string of challenges, trading in the bubbles with keys for bubbles with special abilities.
Overall,
Challenge mode feels repetitive and boring for the most part except for some slight learning in Trial mode.
Each style offers the ability to play single player in free - play of
CPU challenge modes (these modes get progressively harder) or in a local multiplayer mode.
More powerful combos definitely require a bit of extra practice, but the
combo challenge mode serves as a great way to learn certain combos for each character.
