It's so easy to make and tastes so good and I really like this recipe for
cooking it in the slow cooker.
I personally like my greens quite crunchy so I wouldn't
cook it for longer than that.
I often just
cook it on top of the stove in a pot until reaching the consistency I like.
If you are cooking kidney beans, boil them for 10 minutes
before cooking them in a slow cooker.
To save time in the morning, you can cook the sweet potatoes the night before then
cook it with an egg in the morning.
I did
cook mine at 1/2 thick for 40 minutes and they were still quite moist.
I start
cooking it just before I go to bed or low and it's done for dinner the next evening.
I never have but if you want to I'd suggest mixing the dressing in at the end before serving instead
of cooking it with the dressing.
I used 3 large onions
so cooked them for 35 mins but that was the only change.
If I did it again, I would
n't cook it as long as suggested.
Think I over
cooked it as I thought the pecan pie filling wasn't done.
Then pour in 1/2 egg mixture and over low heat
cook it over until half done.
I found that
by cooking them at a much lower heat made them crisp and cooked all the way through — but I figure you know all this already!
That is why when moms are busy on
cooking they like to keep a hand on cutting, mixing or stirring the food.
I feel like 10 - 15 minutes would just
cook them all the way through, what would be the point of the slow cooker?
I was really unsure after tasting the batter but
once cooked they just taste so wholesome and awesome!
I cook with apples quite a bit, but the trick is to use really crispy apples and don't
cook them too long.
You could
also cooked it with spaghetti of course as they did in the original recipe.
I no longer have the slow
cooker I used in this post, but I believe it was a 4 quart.
If using pineapple,
always cook it before using as fresh pineapple tends to go bitter when baked.
You can take cheap cuts of meat and slowly
cook it into tender submission.
Me the queen of never
cooking something from a box has never made dirty rice from scratch, I use to always buy that box mix.
You could use it to make the rice and the lentils; just
cook them together with the herbs / spices according the guidelines in the book for the one that takes longest.
Even though I have a
pressure cooker I also like to have canned beans on hand for days when I need something quick.
My friend is the best
cook I know and she also loved it.
Keeping the tomatoes in chunks and then
cooking them quickly with some olive oil and lots of garlic, preserves all that garden flavor, and then some.
I've generally used canned beans in the past but I thought I'd get back into
cooking them again in my new slow cooker.
