I also
mixed by hand with a dough whisk as I only used a quarter of the recipe, but they're perfect!
Note: You must use a stand mixer or electric hand mixer to prepare the batter;
mixing by hand doesn't do a thorough enough job.
Combine the flour, eggs, and salt in a food processor or mixer, and pulse / mix to make a smooth dough; you may
also mix by hand.
If making by hand; after you add the liquid ingredients to the dry ingredients,
mix by hand in the bowl for a few moments until well combined and coming together.
Add the dry ingredients and mix briefly on low speed, then
finish mixing by hand, stirring just until no flour pockets remain.
I hate the noise and energy waste of using extra kitchen appliances so I tried to
mix this by hand instead of using the processor.
Best way is to
mix by hand as if you were making crumble and chill in between.
Mix only until just incorporated, using a rubber spatula to give it one
last mix by hand.
But I discovered that it took a really long time to mix the eggs into the
cake mix by hand.
Add in the liquid and mix lightly using a dough hook or with a wooden spoon
if mixing by hand.

Pinch the salt and water into the dough, giving it a
good mix by hand, and scrape down the sides of the bowl with a wet bowl scraper.
The filling was initially grainy, but I blended it in the vitamix after I
initially mixed it by hand and it smoothed out and became thicker.
