To read their stories is to understand how important it is that the barriers
facing women in science be broken down as quickly and entirely as possible.
At this popular session, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with experienced scientists to explore specific career issues important to men and
women in science today.
As a former science and mathematics teacher I would say not there needs to be much more done in the schools to
engage women in science.
In recent decades, policymakers, research organizations, and funders of science have made efforts to increase the participation of
women in science teams, leadership roles, and evaluation panels.

She was awarded the L'Oreal - UNESCO
Women in Science Award as the 2013 Laureate for Europe, and the 2010 Gabor medal and prize of the Institute of Physics, among other awards.
Lamont's office of Academic Affairs & Diversity also
supports women in science by offering family leave policies for Lamont research professors and paid maternity leave for full - time postdocs at Lamont; promoting a more diverse applicant pool for job openings; enhancing the visibility of women through special events; and increasing awareness by regularly distributing information on social science research to the Lamont staff.
