One of the biggest stories of E3 2015 was the announcement
of Shenmue III, a very long awaited sequel to the massively influential sandbox action games from the Dreamcast era.
Forget how excited you are
for Shenmue for a minute, and ask yourself if pre-ordering games 2 years in advance sounds like a good idea?
Sony Computer Entertainment America Director of Third Party Productions Gio Corsi (that's a mouthful) explained Sony's role
in Shenmue III's Kickstarter yesterday.
The Xbox version of
Shenmue II finally made it to America in the Fall of 2002.

With crowdfunded backing like this, we suppose Sony doesn't actually have to spend a dime
getting Shenmue III produced (though it could still chip in after the modest fundraising goal for the open - world game is reached).
In a Kickstarter update today, Ys Net announced the delay via Deep Silver: «Deep Silver today announce that their upcoming
release Shenmue III has been moved and will now release in 2019.
A big part of the appeal of a
new Shenmue game (aside from finally completing the story) is the way it would look with current gen tech.
Also, many gamers who
played Shenmue when it came out are no longer as involved in keeping up with gaming news.
Sony had the honor of
announcing Shenmue III (or more accurately, its Kickstarter campaign) during their 2015 press conference, and the game has kept a relatively low profile since.
Lastly, they helped launch a Kickstarter for
Shenmue 3.
With a lot of fan money behind it and such little to show, only time will tell
if Shenmue III can live up to the hype.
This means that Deep Silver will apparently be in charge of
publishing Shenmue 3 worldwide.
In addition, Deep Silver will be responsible for publishing the
upcoming Shenmue III for both PS4 and PC.
There's no word yet on just when this will release, but our guess is it will be just
before Shenmue III officially hits shelves, which was delayed until the second half of this year.
While Shenmue on the Dreamcast was an incredible game, the move to HD — something that has long been rumored to be in the works at SEGA — could make the game even better.
Aside from being a marvelous way to listen to the entire
Shenmue soundtrack, this video was also the first request Tuesday Tunes ever received.
And
so Shenmue III represents another chance to invest ourselves in the life of Ryo and his search for justice.
Initially launched in 1999, the
first Shenmue game was the most expensive video game ever created at the time of its release.
The
sequel Shenmue II continues Ryo's quest, this time crossing the sea to Hong Kong, China.

Bringing
back Shenmue with the help of fans is a pretty cool and continuing the story 14 years later is crazy to believe.
Yesterday, Sega announced that their epic
classic Shenmue I & II are coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam later this year.
The company
revealed Shenmue 1 & 2 are currently in development for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
The long
awaited Shenmue III does not have a concrete release date still but is slated to arrive sometime in the second half of 2018 for PC and PlayStation 4.
