The smart people at Lowe's decided it would be good to use
Kilz primer on the upstairs hall and master bedroom floors prior to installing the wood.
Living Room We
used kilz primer on all walls prior to the finish coat to cover up the cigarette smoke smell baked into the walls.
We primed
with Kilz oil - based spray primer, and painted Sherwin Williams «Grandview» using a paint sprayer.

I used
KILZ ® ORIGINAL primer and did an allover coat and let it dry overnight.
If I am using white paint and the piece is really smelly and old, I brush on one coat of
Kilz original.
After I had sanded it to death, I wiped it down with mineral spirits and then sprayed it with
KILZ oil - based primer.
After the trim and doors were all primed 2x with the oil
base kilz primer, I began using my chalk paint.
I use the spray can lacquer based
Kilz on knots, one or two quick coats, then prime the whole wall.
I choose the color «Rebel» by
KILZ Complete Coat Paint, based off the color I saw on Walmart.
Otherwise sand those sections down and put a primer
like Kilz over it first then repaint?

I taped off the walls at the floor (so I wouldn't get the grey floor paint on the baseboard) and I started off with a coat of
white Kilz primer.
I received product from
Kilz brand for this post, but all comments and opinions are 100 % me!
We
found KILZ MAX worked the best for stain blocking unless you go the ultra toxic route.

Between Kilz original, BIN 123 (Shellac - based), and Zinsser Coverstain which would you recommend for heavy smoke stains?
Most
times Kilz will require 2 - coats on new wood.
For really musty furniture, I like to prime with
Kilz Max first.
Every time I paint wood — kitchen cabinets, shelves — I do everything I am «supposed» to do — sand, prime,
kilz etc. — but the paint still feels tacky or it is «soft» (I don't know how else to describe it!).
Do I need to
buy Kilz primer, or are there steps I can take to obtain a smooth, hard finish without waiting days?
(It's going to be tough though... I've got everything from wood glue and
Kilz under my nails, to dust - filled pores on my nose.

Lots of
Kilz needed to cover up the dark purple and green paint.
My husband said I should
get kilz primer and stain cover well all the sites said shellac well.
Then I sanded the thick, cracked, chalk paint smooth and gave it a coat of
real Kilz.
Adam said it was basically
crappy Kilz and wondered why people thought this paint was so awesome.
For the desk, I started with 2 coats of
Kilz Latex Primer applied with a foam roller on the large areas and a small paint brush for the fine details.
I used the
same kilz primer for the doors but bought spray cans of it so I would not have to clean it out of my sprayer.

Start with TSP, follow with a light sanding and prime with a product
like KILZ.
I did
use Kilz Original oil based primer to finally get rid of the stench... luckily for me, it only took one coat to do the job:)
We just went through renovating a cigarette smoker cat spray house (an inherited tenant) and after 3 full scrubbings with TSP, soaking slab and subfloors in vinegar several times over several weeks, then painting subfloors
with Kilz, duct cleaning, etc., it finally seems to be resolved.
