Not sure if this is true, but I would definitely be careful about the type of
oats I used in these recipes.
Instead of just
rolled oats I use a four grain mix that includes rolled oats, rye, barley and wheat.

I'm always a little intimidated by the amount of oil, sugar and
oats used in typical oatmeal, so this version is a bit lighter.
It seems a bit crunchy, perhaps I need to cut back on the baking time, or it could have been the brand

My advice would be to either use walnuts as mentioned in the recipe or pecans since both these nuts are softer, blending easily with the oats
