I used spinach and twice the red lentils
rather than quinoa, but not sure either of those subs would account for the color difference.
The grains are much
bigger than quinoa, with a slightly nutty taste and a more substantial texture, which I love, and they go with everything.
And for a specialty grain, it's surprisingly economical, comparable to organic brown rice and often less
costly than quinoa.
For the folks leading an active lifestyle, you could hardly find a better
food than quinoa.

I'm with you on liking the Farro more
than the Quinoa, it does have a more pleasing texture.
Amaranth, which is richer in calcium and protein
than quinoa, and kaniwa, which contains more fibre and iron than amaranth, could eventually join other ancient Andean grains in meeting the same fate as quinoa.
They are smaller even
than quinoa!
I like rice more
